Subah-e-Banaras is the morning soul of the city.

About Subah-e-Banaras

Subah-e-Banaras, an early morning collective effort before dawn—more a phenomenon than an event—began on 24th November 2014 with an innovative and pious concept. The initiative was taken by Shri Pranjal Yadav, DM Varanasi, and Dr. Ratnesh Verma, Chief of the Regional Cultural Center, Varanasi, and was further strengthened by Shri Vishak G, Chief Development Officer, Varanasi. Together, they became the founders of Subah-e-Banaras. Later, a committee was constituted to glorify and propagate the celestial moments of Subah-e-Banaras for spiritual development. People from all walks of life came together to carry forward this early-morning effort, experiencing the presence of the Almighty and the grandeur of Nature.

Salient Features

  1. A morning in Varanasi, full of life, light, and spiritual essence, celebrating the eternal beauty of nature with Vedic chanting, music, and yoga.

  2. A mystic blend of nature’s grandeur and human existence—the rising sun, the golden Ganges, and the glittering ghats inspiring people to chant, sing, and practice yoga.

Come and feel the spiritual fragrance of pluralistic human existence.

  1. Come, live with joy forever. Start the day with new hopes, aspirations, and internal strength, inspired by Vedic enchanting of Richas, the enthralling Ganges, Ghats, and vibrant soulful Indian Music in addition to introspection.

  2. Subah-e-Banaras, a phenomenon that has been ascribed to civilization to foster cosmic evaluation and its supramental consciousness. During morning hours, ‘creative energy’ revealed Him after lifting the veil of darkness.

  3. True, no one can see ‘Thou’ with his organic eyes, but everyone can realize Him with the help of a purified intellect and soul. Subah-e-Banaras gives you a golden opportunity to purify your mind and soul.

Vedic hymns (chanting by rishikas)

The ancient philosophical and religious doctrine of the oriental world — were revealed by our sages and hermits in their moments of intense concentration and meditation. This lent them an insight into the real meaning of human life and the world of beings. It showed them that the best way to live life in this world is with purity, sanctity, truth, and love, and to achieve excellence according to one's ability.

Oblation (yagya) — the objective is universal peace

By performing Yagya, may my wealth increase and my past and future become good. My power, my work, my fame and wealth, my fulfillments, means of fulfillment, wisdom, and understanding — may all these increase through Yagya. (Yajur Veda 18.11)

Let there be peace in the sky, peace in heaven, peace on earth. Calm be the waters, the vegetation, and the medicinal plants. Let Vishwadev be at peace, and also the Supreme Being. Let them all bring us peace.

Music — morning raga

Indian classical music is actually a rosary of notes and micro-notes, which leads the mind on a paragon journey of divinity. Music in the early hours revitalizes not only the organic body but also paves the way for tranquility in the transcendental mind. The Vedas said — “Music, the gateway of compassion and bliss.”

Yoga — chittavritti nirodhah iti yogah

The doctrine of Yoga says — “Yoga prevents the deformities of the body and the agitating disorders of the mind.” Yoga practices initially control and monitor all organs of the body, and through breath control, they help reach the deep process of meditation. This initiates a journey of desirelessness and alternativelessness. Yoga can transform goodness, which ultimately ends in Godness.
